Brother MFC-J895DW is an all-in-one inkjet printer with scan and copy functions, automatic document feeder, and built-in faxes. It works with both Windows and macOS. The main paper tray capacity is 150 sheets, the size is distinctive. It can receive paper up to 72 # basic weight, much heavier than what is typical. There is an automatic document feeder to allow you to copy or scan a page stack in one operation. The Printer has a 2.6-inch medium size display screen with a touch screen interface. Brother MFC-J895DW has a memory card reader. You can connect directly to the PC with a USB cable, or to your network router wirelessly with WiFi. This Model has a built-in Fax, can store incoming faxes if the paper runs out, and can send faxes from the attached PC. When setup for use, Brother MFC-J895DW needed a space of 8.3 inches tall with 16.7 inches of 18.5 inches in width, and a weight of 18.1 pounds.

Brother’s MFC-J895DW is a medium-range A4 multifunction inkjet, which is aimed primarily at home and micro-office use. It has a list of enviable specifications, combining scanning, printing, and fax capabilities with wired and wireless networks, color touchscreen, and automatic duplex printing. Provided you do not need to make unattended copies of the original two-sided sources, MFC-j895DW has almost all closed.

This is a relatively intelligent device that looks, too, with a squat design in white and black plastic. Get hands-on, however, and feel this plastic leaving something desirable, especially in the clattery paper tray and the guide paper that notchy. The Front Panel is very neat, though, and the touchscreen controls work pretty well.

Like other Brother inkjets, the MFC-J895DW uses a capillary tube to feed the print head moving from a stationary ink tank, but there is no keying to stop you accidentally placing this in the wrong slot, so be careful when refilling.

Run the printer and two things are obvious: it’s not the fastest office home inkjet around, but it is one of the quietest, potentially making a good tablemate. It completes our black letter Test at 12.6 ppm, which is quite relaxing for the MFP type, but in draft mode, it is administered 16.9 ppm. The color print speed is more impressive, with printers reaching 5. SPPM on our complex graphic test. Six printing 6 x 4in photos flew out in just five minutes.

The Brother software is usually not perfect, but in this case, we have a problem where the TWAIN scanning interface cannot complete the scan to the host PC. We tried again on two other PCS, running Windows 7 and Windows 10, before giving up. Fortunately, Brother now also installs the iPrint & Scan PC application, which provides a practical alternative, even if it can’t be called directly from the imaging program.

Scan speeds are quite acceptable, with A4 color pages taking ten seconds at 150dpi and 14 seconds at 300dpi. The photocopy is also produced quite relaxed, with one page Mono taking 17 seconds and a copy of the color that takes 21 seconds. The 20-page automated Document feeder, however, is really sedate: Ten copies take almost two-and-a-half minutes of black, and three minutes in color.

Print quality is generally strong, with bold, crisp black text, and quite attractive colors on plain paper. Print Duplex that feels more sketchy, with a bloody-through rate, but a very good photocopy. Even decent photos for office-device bias. The scan is sharp, but the dark areas are too dark, resulting in a loss of detail: the darkest seven colors on our target scans are indistinguishably black; One of the worst results we have ever seen.
